Last day of the year

It's 9.20pm right now..220 minutes to the New Year..how am i feeling right now?..
Today, my company's MD celebrated his birthday with all management staffs..he asked all of us the same question: how do you feel today?..to him, it's always a heavy heart..especially when you recalled all things that happen throughout the year..then, he took out this picture which he found in his room..it was a newspaper article, nicely framed up..he said, it was because of this article that he decided to quit smoking..then he shown to us..written on top was : smoking leads to stroke..with the damaged brain as the background..the picture scared him off..and he made all the smokers employees to read it out in front of us..i was laughing there..i didn't expect him to do such a thing..haha..but then it was good..he wanted to change a person's life, if he could..
How i wished my dad was there too..he has been a smoker for years..quit then smoke again..i understand for his age, it is very hard for him to quit smoking..God has been very grateful to him..dad is still strong and able to do things that some old man couldn't do...I pray to God that He will continue to bless my parents...with good health and a happy life..to be able to see all 3 daughters getting marry and have the chance to look after their grandchild..
May the year ahead be a great one and peaceful..

Count down...1 more day to year 2006

  • met up with Songie too..she was so excited to see me..Songie is my ex-colleague..a cheerful and tough girl..she is determined person..she knows what she want to achieve in her life and head straight to it..all the best and take care pal..

October 2005

  • Parents went to China, leaving behind me and Ai Hoi..but then, both of us enjoyed the 10 days without mum's nagging..

November 2005

Lessons in Life

I wanted to blog this and share with all of you...

There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away.
The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall.
When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen.
The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent and twisted. The second son said no, it was covered with green buds and full of promise.
The third son disagreed; he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen. The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.
The man then explained to his sons that they were all right because they had seen but only one season in the tree's life.
He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season, and that the essence of who they are and the pleasure, joy and love that come from that life can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.
If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer, fulfillment of your fall.
Moral: Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest. Don't judge life by one difficult season. Persevere through the difficult patches and better times are sure to come some time or later.

Movies night

Finally, i watched The Chronicles of Narnia..the movie was about 2 hours long..in the beginning , the story was quite slow and dragging, not as interesting as The Lord of The Ring..but overall, it was a good movie and entertaining..i liked Azlan (the Lion, King of Narnia) and also the beavers couple..so cute
The next movie to watch-KING KONG..it was claimed to be the most expensive movie production this year..mum, who has not been stepping into the cinema for ages also wanted to watch it..esp with the good sound system..and i bet your heart would beat fast when the king kong roars..loud and scary..lets wait and see..

Sob Sob

Exam result was out..and..i failed..did not expect it to be like that, i thought i could pass the paper..but i guessed, my wish for the past one month didn't come true..so disaapointed and sad of course..i think one of the factor for the failure was because i didnt put 100% effort in this paper..so could not blame others..
This morning received an email from CPA..reminder to enrol for the next semester..and i was speechless when i saw the enrolment fee..RM1905 (if enrol by Dec'05)...wah..how to survive ler..one month salary gone ler...thus, i really don't know should i enrol for next semester as i am still thiking what subject should i take..should i retake FInancial Accounting or Strategic Management...to be honest, i wish i could discontinue this CPA program..the burden is too heavy either physically, mentally or financially...but then, i had completed 60% of this 'journey'..if i quit now, then it would be a waste..so just gotta face it..one failure is not a big deal..life is about experience..by end of next year..i wish i can complete the CPA program and need not worry so much about it anymore..Gambateh..

Today i was told that i wrongly calculated one of the lorry driver's salary, i overpaid him RM900!!..my goodness, extremely sad and disappointed now..how could i made such a mistakes at work..i actually overlooked on this matter..and i was told again that the management is going to sack the particular driver for poor performance..gosh..if this does not happen, then at least i could still deduct the overpayment in Dec'05 salary..but if he got fired..then how huh?..hopefully the management would know how to settle this case, especially concerning $$..

'Speed'

Overslept this morning..when i opened my eyes, 7.30am...oh oh, gonna be late already..quickly i jumped out from my bed, rushed to the washroom and had a fast clean up..then, grabbed a simple dress (usually i would stare in front my wardrobe and wondering what to wear..hehe), put on face toner and moisturiser..Then, prepared breakfast (2 pieces of bread) and DONE...start the car engine..and Vroommmm...off i go to work..guessed what, i took 15 minutes for everything..wah..cool..
Fortunately my dad woke up already, else, i would be sorry for my dog because i got no time to bring him for a walk...for him to 'release' some water out..haha..now dad can do that for me..
Today is an important day..my examination result!!..i am still thinking when should i check it..nervous ler..hope that everything is good..

What a night

Phew, finally the annual dinner was over..i didn't manage to rent the retro costume, instead i wore my 'old' dress which was bought 3 yrs ago and had a hairdo..i was satisfied with my appearance, looked like a princess..hehe..(self-appraisal)..too bad, no photo taken of me..
The venue was not bad but the food..sigh, out of 10, i would rate 3..small serving, cold and salty...some of them went home with hungry tummy and had to go for late supper..
Lucky draw--lots of 'HU HA' there ler..kononnya, the prizes were all pre-drawn and allocated according to staffs..this morning when i reached office, wah..my dept was so noisy, everyone is discussing about the lucky draw..some colleagues who had worked for more than 10 years got lousy prizes and were not satisfied..grumbling..well, can't blame them ler..just imagine, most of the organising committees got grand prizes (3G handphone, digital camera..)..it was so obvious that something is wrong somewhere..manipulation!! We are in the accounts dept, so we knew how much cash was taken to buy the prizes..but on that night, it seems that some of the prizes bought went 'missing'..haha..ini macam pun boleh..
Anyway, i was quite satisfied with what i got, a small PENSONIC radio..in fact, mum was happier than me coz hers not functioning already..but then, this morning, she gave me a call and asked, "hey, did you keep the waranty card arh?"..i said yes and i am going to post it to the dealer..According to her, the radio is not functioning this morning..kaput already!!..huh, what is this, so dramatic..yesterday, it was in good condition and today, rosak pulak..hopefully the dealer could replace a new one for me..i dare not tell this to my colleagues..else, they will start the stories again.."you see, giving out lousy prizes for lucky draw..bla bla bla"
Now is my lunch hour but i did not eat anything..having gastric now, and it was painful..all the while, i got gastric problem..especially every night before i go on bed, i would blurp non stop..too gasy..doctor advised me to go for a scan or thorough medical check up..cost about RM400++..would consider it ler coz i m also worry and i knew there is something wrong inside my body..i guessed for the next few months, no more coffee and spicy food for me already..

Exhausted..

Sometimes, I disliked Sundays..made me felt really tired and exhausted..yesterday, i had 3 meetings to attend, all at the same time..I was in church from 9am till 6pm, almost like normal working hour..and then, gotta attend carolling practice at 8pm..friends around me asked," why do you make yourself so busy? why do you involve in so many activities?"..hmm..ya, i wondered why..
BUt, i knew that i am doing all these just for God..God gave me the healthy body and abilities to serve..He had blessed me so much in my life..well..i admitted that sometimes, i do give excuses to 'run away' from all these activities..and it made me felt bad..i guessed God is amazing..He understand my weaknesses and would be my great supporter..through the sermons from reverents, pastors or even sharing from brother and sister in Christ, it helps to refresh my body, mind and soul..to continue walking with God..
Yesterday, Rev Ho's sermon really gave me a 'tinked'..I am grateful to my mum who had sent me to Sunday School since i was 4 years old..to be able to know Christ since young..Do not allow excuses to hinder you from serving Him..we could not predict the future..grab hold of each day, serve Him in anyway you can, everywhere you are...
(hehe, for those who are reading my blog, hope my articles do not make you felt asleep..haha)

Appraisal again???

Today my Senior Accounts Exec asked me, "hey, did you get a pay rise after your confirmation period over?"..At first, i didn't catch what she was asking...then only i realised..I had an early confirmation in this company (2 months earlier) and yes, i did have a pay rise. The reason she asked is because my company's FC wanted to have another appraisal on me..HUH..another appraisal..wow..if it is for good reason then i dont mind..who knows, promotion or another pay rise again...hehe..but what if it is not...oh oh..i must be thinking too much liao..well..just have to wait for my FC to see me ler..then the truth would be reveal..

God is amazing

This year, i had the opportunity to lead one session of P&W and also the games for the 8th Good News Club Camp. It was a great experience. Many thanks to all brothers and sisters who had helped me alot. God is really amazing and He answered prayers. For the past few days, it has been raining non-stop, especially from noon til night. Initially i was very worried because the games start at 3pm-5pm. What if it rains, then games has to be cancelled. I prayed hard. Praise God. Though yesterday was raining, however, it stopped at the right time. The games session went on smoothly. The children had a great time. and i was exhausted after all the runnings and planning..phew..finally could a break.
My next project-1st Children Mission Conference. I offered myself as helper on 10.12.05, teaching the memory verse. It might seem easy but then i tell you, lots of preparation to be done. So, better do my part well, else Pr CM would chase after me..hehe
Then, Christmas carolling. I am very anxious and excited for the days to come. Carolli
ng is always fun and meaningful, especially during this wonderful day, the birth of Jesus.
I guessed for the next one month or so, i will be very busy and with activities happening around me..pengsan ler..

Exam over

Phew..one of my heaviest burden had gone..the paper wasn't hard but the questions were tricky. I was quite disappointed for not finishing all 60 questions on time. I spent too much time on some questions, flipping the book for answers..bad time management! Juz hope that the questions that managed to complete would scored, at least a PASS ler..hehe.

A busy week

Next week is a long stretch of holidays, with Deepavali and Hari Raya falling on the same week..cool
However, I have no chance to rest and relax myself for the next whole week..gotta do my final revision for exam and have to attend church meetings..gosh
For the past few days, my sister came back from Singapore with her friend..so i 'rented' out my room to her friend and sleep with my sisters..It had been raining each day..the weather is so nice and cooling..perfect time for sleeping..missed my bed so much..
I am still looking for a suitable dress for annual dinner..still considering whether to tailor-made or buy a new one..so troublesome ler..

Missed Mum's cooking so much

For the past 8 days, parents were not around as they are on vacation. So, the best 'cook' at home is not there to take care of ours 'tummy'. We catered food. But, the food is not tasty as compared to mum's. Then, during that very moment, I asked myself, why didn't i learn cooking from my mum? She is the best teacher and person. After all, the skills are useful to me in future. So, i decided to learn from mum next year..haha..
Yippie, tonight, they will be back...then, our 'tummy' need not suffered anymore..

I am also excited. i have found few clothes that i wished to wear on that night, but the problem is where to find those clothes, unless tailored made. Well, will see how things go.

The "LITTLE" Things

This morning, a friend of mine emailed this meaningful article to me and I would love to share with you.
**As you might know, the head of a company survived 911 because his son started kindergarten.
Another fellow was alive because it was his turn to bring donuts.
One woman was late because her alarm clock didn't go off in time.
One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike because of an auto accident.
One of them missed his bus.
One spilled food on her clothes and had to take time to change.
One's car wouldn't start.
One went back to answer the telephone.
One had a child that dawdled and didn't get ready as soon as he should have.
One couldn't get a taxi.
The one that struck me was the man who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, took the various means to get to work but before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore! to buy a Band-aid. That is why he is alive today.
Now when i am stuck in tracffic, miss an elevator, turn back to answer a ringing telephone...all the little things that annoy me. I think to myself, this is exactly where God wants me to be at this very moment...
Next time your morning seems to be going wrong, the children are slow getting dressed, you can't seem to find the car keys, you hit every tracffic light, don't get mad or frustrated; God is at work watching over you.
May God continue to bless you with all those annoying little things and you may remember their possible purpose.
Amen.**

Exam is around the corner

This morning as i looked into the calendar, there's 29 days to go before my exam on 9/11/05. My second last paper for CPA. This semester, i am sitting for Financial Accounting paper, all theories...quite bored to read and hard to absorb..hehe..every time when i wanted to sit down and pay attention, soon, i would definitely felt asleep..more effective than taking sleeping pills..gosh, i only managed to complete 2/3 of the modules and yet to do some exercises..gotta pray hard that God will grant me the strength, wisdom, knowledge and concentration that i needed to pass this paper...
Then, my study leave was rejected...i already try to take less days than i used to
in my ex-company..but still, due to festive seasons, chinese staffs are not given the priority to take leave..so have to become the 'victim'..kasihannya...

Fantastic trip to Sydney & Melbourne

24 September 2005, Saturday-Australia...here i come
Early morning, a friend of mine fetched me to the KLIA airport-and that started my journey to Australia.Due to the flight delay, i reached Sydney at around 9pm. The weather was very cold and windy. Cheng Ying, my ex-primary mate picked me up from the airport and we had late dinner at a pizza restaurant, before going back to her place in Maroubra Beach.
25 September 2005, Sunday-One day tour at Sydney city
It was a wonderful day. Cheng Ying took me to the city and shown me many places of attractions. After having breakfast at a famous Dim Sum restaurant, we began to walk around the city. Among the places that we went to were Market City or Paddy Market, China Town, Queen Victoria Building (one fo the city's finest 19th century building), The Rocks Market, Sydney Opera House, Royal Botanic Garden and Darling Harbour.
My favourite place was "The Rocks Market". It was more than just a stylish street market. Located at the Northern end of George Street in the shade of the Harbour Bridge, it is filled with around 145 stalls that offer a collection of arts and crafts, home wares, jewellery and antiques, collectibles, toys, puzzles and tasty aromatic.
26 September 2005, Monday-BLue Montain Wildlife Day Tour with Cruise
Early in the morning, i took the bus to the Central YHA Corner, where you could find lots of backpackers and students staying there, awaiting for the tour bus to pick me up.
We started the day to Featherdale Wildlife Park, the best wildlife park in Sydney. I got the chance to hand feed the kangaroos, pat koalas and see over 2,000 different types of Australian ani
mals including crocodiles, Tasmanian devils, Wombats, Fairy penguins, Dingoes and Snakes, not fergetting the photo taken with a Koala. And i was told by the tour guide that "Koala" is an aboriginal name meaning "no drink", feeding exclusively on low-energy eucalyptus leaves and sleep up to twenty hours a day.
Next, The Three Sisters at Echo Point, the world most famous rock formation. The view on the Blur Mountain was fabulous. I learnt how to throw a boomerang and about the Aboriginal culture from the tour guide too..He is indeed very good..
The last stop for the day was Sydney Olympic Park. The place was beautiful and well maintained after the Sydney Olympic in year 2000.

The enjoyable day was finished by taking a cruise from Homebush Bay down the Parramatta River and into Sydney Harbour. I enjoyed the unique views as i went under the Sydney Harbour Bridge and beside the Sydney Opera House. it was GREAT!
27 September 2005, Tuesday-Tarooga Zoo & Sydney Aquarium
Again, i took the bus to Circular Quay, then ferry to the Tarooga Zoo. One thing about me is that wherever i go or visit, zoo is a "must see" place for me...my friends always teased me, like a small kid, that all zoos are the same, nothing special. But, to me, it is...
The zoo was big, 28 hectares of landscaped gardens and exhibits, displays more than 340 different species and 2,600 individual animals, some of whom are among the world's rarest and most beautiful.
The best things i enjoyed most are the keeper talks and animal shows..fantastic..l
oved it so much.
After spending almost 6 hours in the zoo, my next destination is the Sydney aquarium, one of the most spectacular aquariums in the world with over 11,500 Australian aquatic animals including platypus, huge sharks and rays, seals, fairy penguins, crocod
iles and much more...as i was enjoying myself, looking at those animals, i just have to praise God for His wonderful creations..amazing
28 September 2005, Wednesday-Short trip to Melbourne
Yeah, today i would be going to Melbourne, by plane, to visit my uncle and also a friend, Songie.
Uncle's place was big and beautiful, near the beach too. Finally, i met aunt Paula (have not been seeing her for more than 10 years and she still looked the same, stunning.) and my cousins-Benjamin, Laura and Holly. Aunt Paula had prepared dinner and dessert to welcome me. Felt so lovely and sweet. We talked and share on things happening around us. Aunt Paula just came back from a mission trip to Uganda. Wow..Benjamin had grew taller and i hardly recognised him. In the pic, from left, Laura, me and Holly, together with thier dogs, Muffin and Cookie.I spent the night in their house.
29 September 2005, Thursday-Melbourne city one day tour
The next morning, aunt Paula, Holly and i went for a walk at the famous Brighton beach. So windy and cold but it was nice. I could see the city view far from the beach. Then, aunt Paula sent me to the railway station, as i would be meeting SOngie in the city today. I hope to spend more days with them during my next visit, probably next year.
Today's weather was good. Songie met me in the Melbourne Central. After lunch, she took me around the city. Among the places visited including St. Patrick's church (the pic is taken at a garden near the church), the Parliament, Melbourne Aquarium (just the building), Crown Casino...gosh..i can't recall already...been walking the whole day.
We had dinner buffet at the Crown Casino, AUD15.69 per person, which i considered it cheap and worthy. Yummy..great variety of food and delicious.
We went back to Songie's place very late at night, almost 11pm..taking train and cab..she stayed at Clayton, near to Monash University. Met her housemate, Neel, nice guy from Mauritius. We continued chatting till 1am..then dozed off...
30 September 2005, Friday-Back to Sydney
Due to Songie's place was far from the airport, i had to wake up at 6am to catch the bus and train. My flight was scheduled at 10am. Luckily, everything was under controlled anfd back safely to Sydney during noon.
I decided to go to the city myself before going back to Maroubra Beach. Thus, i went to the Paddy's Market again, to buy some souvenirs. As usual, i bought lots of Koalas soft toy for friends back in Malaysia. And shopped for clothes...hehe..enjoying myself.
1 October 2005, Saturday-Last day in Sydney
Happy moments usually passed quickly. Today is the last day for me to tour around Sydney. Cheng Ying took me to the Fish Market for frsh seafoods..yummy..THe place is crowded with tourists. We had brunch there. I ate lobster, prawns, oysters, fish etc...delicious...
Next, we went to Sydney University. Beautiful ancient building, very big indeed..it
took you at least 2 hours to walk around the whole area. We got to see a pair of newly wed couples taking pictures in the uni..so lovely and romantic..hehe
Maybe because of the heavy brunch and the cheese i took, my tummy felt uncomfortable..so we had to go back early to rest...and start packing
for tomorrow..ready to be back home, Malaysia
2 October 2005, Sunday-Bye bye Sydney
Time to say farewell...today i woke up very late, almost 11am...friend said as if i had fainted..haha..maybe too tired...
After light breakfast, she sent me off to the airport...and there..bye bye..
I am grateful to God for this wonderful trip and also His protection..i enjoyed it very much.

A New Challenge

Yesterday i attended a seminar, conducted by 3 successful women, as National Senior Director for a beauty products. Their sharing and experiences really inspired me. For the past few
years, my life is just so simple and plain..as compared to other friends of mine. I want to add 'colours' into it..so i decided to sign up as one of the beauty consultant for MARY KAY skin care (a Christianity based company). The lady u saw in the picture was the founder of MAry Kay skin care ~ Ms. Mary Kay Ash
During the seminar, i was captivated with the idea of moving up the career path based on own efforts. Success is about feeling happy with what you have and with what you do. It is about becoming a positive woman and finding the determination to achieve your goals. And the statement of "God first, Family second and Career third" is the main reason that i joined
in as part of the team.
Last time when my friends around me involved in direct selling, i didn't give my full support to them. But now, seeing myself starting to be like them, i am expecting the same treament from people around me too. I am very thankful to my mentor who has given me so much of supports and courage. Most importantly is not how people treat you, but is how you treat yourself. No doubts that in the beginning i will face many difiiculties, but if this is God's plan for me, to be part of the team and be a good testimony for Him, He will definitely lead me and overcome all fears. i am confident that if i put my efforts in it, i will certainly learn a lot from this business and at the same time, enriching my life.

Busy + Tension + Stress

Gosh...today is superb busy at work...overloaded with things and assignments to be completed..i could hardly breathe...after completing one job, then come another...felt like screaming...
During my days working as an auditor, it was pretty easy in the sense that everyone had been allocated with an amount of jobs to be completed and we just need to report to seniors and managers. But now, i have to deal with different people from different departments and it gets harder when they do not co-operate with you. Many a time, i told myself "it's alright, maybe give them some time to come back to me". however, people take things for granted. Often, i had to finish their jobs. (this is one of my weakness-soft
heartened and i knew it)..Yesterday, as i had shared, there was an argument between operation & finance department. I knew it was not my fault but then i apologised to the Head of department...having said that, i 'scolded' myself for apologising something which had nothing got to do with me...
I guessed sometimes, we could not always be the "Mr Nice" or "Miss Nice" person...(unless you are appreciated/respected by others) because most of the time, we will be the 'victim'...and no one will pity us...Thus, from now onwards, i want to be tough and learn how to say "NO" when necessary...even others might criticise or speak behind your back...as long as i am standing on the right side, i have to protect and stressed on my believes/principle...
Lastly, two quotes of the day to share:-
"Never confuse motion with action." ~Benjamin Franklin
"Without changing our patterns of thought, we will not be able to solve the problems th
at we created with our current patterns of thought." ~Albert Einstein

What a bad morning

Early in the morning today, the accounts department staff had an argument with the Head operation department, over a small matter...and the sad part is that, everyone think that i am the one that sparked up the "fire"..and my mood was spoilt immediately..
I really did not understand why can't both departments compromise with each other...we are all working for the same company, same employer and work for the best for the company as well...is this what they meant by "office politics" ..everyone trying to protect themselv
es from mistakes/being scolded for nothing...i guessed this is the reality of life...
it had been 4 months working in this Company and i am very happy to have an early confirmation (with salary increment also) from the management..it showed that the management appreciated and valued my work performances..
this year is my 3rd year of working life..i must say there are still lots to learn, especially dealing with people...sometimes, WORDS could either hurt one's feeling or encourage ones to move on...often arguments happened due to misunderstandings between 2 or more parties...and i would say that the 'scar of hurting feelings' could not be mended by just a word of "sorry"..i prayed that in my daily life, God is beside me and teach me to be more like HIm, to be a good testimony to others...
Though this morning was really bad for me, but then there are so many happy things awaiting for me next week...my trip to Australia...really looking forward and hope that it will turn out to be an enjoyable and unforgetta
ble experience..yippie..
