Last weekend was tiring, had to attend YM related meetings..
Saturday-YM Committee meeting, from 4pm-7pm. A very long meeting, lots of discussions, and disagreements among committees..sigh
Sunday-YM Camp Committee meeting, from 2pm-4pm. This meeting was slightly better than yesterday's. At least, we managed to get things done.
Would like to blog on my Sunday School kids..every Sunday, I have good time with them, despite some of them can be really naughty and get you into your nerves..but overall, they are a bunch of cute little children..
This year I have 15 kids (Std 1)-8 girls and 7 boys. Quite a big group but manageable..just have to let them know when is the time for them to talk, and when is the time for them to listen..i have an assistant helping me to disciplin them.
This is my 8th year teaching in Sunday School..each year, the quality of the children are different..personally, I enjoyed teaching them coz I learnt alot from these kids, and they bring laughter and fun into my life..
Yesterday, I was teaching them about Esau and Jacob (Genesis 25:19-34), how these 2 brothers fight over the title of eldest son..so as I was telling the story, as usual, some of them will be chit chatting among friends or they will just suddenly talk to you about their personal stories.
Student A: Teacher Ai Leng, I like Monday, because got art craft.
Me: oh really, you like Seni.
Student A: No, not Seni, its Pendidikan Seni.
Me: oh ok, you like to draw then.
Student A: yes.
Student B ( who sat far behind, trying to tell me his story in a high tone): Teacher Ai Leng, you know arh...
(I couldn't hear him clearly coz Student A was still talking to me, I was trying my best to catch what Student B is telling me, and at the same time, focus on student A)
Then Student C, D, E started to talk and wanting to share their stories with me..this is one of the phenomenon in the class..they tend to follow what their friends are doing..for eg, if one student wants to go toilet, then the other will follow..
Me: oh students..please keep quiet. Teacher has only 2 ears, I can't listen to all of you. or else, I need to bring my elephant ears already.
Student C: Teacher, why elephant ears?
Me: coz elephant ears are bigger, can listen to all of you at the same time.
All of them laughed..me also laughed..That's why I loved them so much, they had taught me how to speak like one of them..act as a kid..
I was wondering..how will I be when I have my own children? well, will tell you only when that day come :)
