Nightmare gone

Phew...burden gone..the exam venue for this semester had changed from PWTC to KLCC..reached there 3 hours earlier..so did some window shopping, searching for maps on CHina and India.(GM asked to buy)..managed to find both..:)
KLCC is slightly nicer than PWTC..in terms of space and location...more convenient..don't ask me hows exam..coz I don't know how to answer you...all I can said was that for the first time, I completed all 85 questions, in 3 hours..but of course, few questions were wild guess...mostly, I answered them using common sense and logical thinking...hopefully I can get through this FINAL paper..had enough of suffering and torturing of exam...
After exam, supposingly had an appointment with a friend, but then, Mum called and told me that uncle and family from Singapore is coming..so had to cancel the appointment...mana tau, at the end, they didn't come..darn..
Today on my way to KLCC by KTM & LRT...I had bought the train ticket to Singapore on 16/11-19/11...and I forgotten to buy an extra ticket for my cousin..so was thinking to buy it on my way home from KLCC...but I realised money wasn't enough...short of RM0.20...haha...so I was praying at the KTM station that I can meet someone familiar..then borrow RM1 from him/her..and amazingly, God answered my prayer...met a sister from church...got the money and guessed what..the ticket counter closed!!!...alamak...so no choice..cousin gotta follow her dad's car then..but then I was really happy that God knew exactly what I want at that moment..He heard my prayer and He answered it on the spot...amazing..
for the last few days..sis from Singapore was back, with her boy friend..and he had been treating us good meals almost everyday...finally, I got the chance to go to 日满餐馆..(I was grumbling that previously, they went to this restaurant without me...)..ordered the famous assam fish..yummy..and her boy friend was impressed on how we actually finished the whole fish..left the bone only..haha..

4 days at home

Finally, I got 4 days break from work, stayed home and prepare for exam on next Monday 30/10..
I mean should have more time for revision..

Basic Techniques in Analyzing Worry
  1. Get all the facts.
  2. Wight all the facts-then come to a decision.
  3. Once a decision is reached, act!

  • What are the possible solutions?
  • What is the best possible solution?
Break the Worry Habit Before It Breaks You
  1. Keep busy.
  2. Don't fuss about trifles.
  3. Use the law of average to outlaw your worries.
  4. Cooperate with the inevitable.
  5. Decide just how much anxiety a thing may be worth and refuse to give it more.
  6. Don't worry about the past.
Cultivate a Mental Attitude that will Bring You Peace and Happiness
  1. Fill your mind with thoughts of peace, courage, health and hope.
  2. Never try to get even with your enemies.
  3. Expect ingratitude.
  4. Count your blessings-not your troubles.
  5. Do not imitate others.
  6. Try to profit from your losses.

  4. Apply these four good working habits:
  • Clear your desk of all papers except those relating to the immediate problem at hand.
  • Do things in the order of their importance.
  • When you face a problem, solve it then and there if you have the facts necessary to make a decision.
  • Learn to organize, deputize and supervise.
  1. Put enthusiasm into your work.
  2. Don't worry about insomia.

CPA workshops

Finally, 2 days of workshops had ended..yesterday and today..at The Coronade Hotel, next to Lot 10..of all the workshops that I had attended before, I found the lecturer for this semester was really good..He knew all the skills and techniques to teach..and he was kind enough to summarise the whole modules (about 250 pages) to 30 pages of notes..thank you so much..in my evaluation form, I gave him all EXCELLENT comments..haha
Day 1
Left Klang 8am and I was really speeding..110kph..haha ( I knew this might be be slow for you..but not to me)...managed to reach KL in 35 minutes..had breakfast in the car before heading for class..There were about 35 people attending the workshop and the lecturer was from Monash University..my uni..He will be going through 3 modules with us today, and then 2 modules tomorrow..After first 2 hours, I was already dozing off..not that the lecturer is bored..but perhaps I was really tired..(tiredness accumulated few days before)..I was wearing glasses, instead of contact lens coz eyes hardly open..
For this semester, there was no lunch provided by the hotel..maybe due to puasa season..so gotta hunt for food..went to the Lot 10 food court..ended up with a bowl of EXPENSIVE laksa..不值得! Then, had some time for shopping..finally got my dress for cousin's wedding in November..new arrival and I was the first to try it..what an honour..
oh..one more thing, the parking rate at Lot 10 car park had increased from RM5 to RM7..tats a lot mann..
On the same day, gotta rushed back to Klang for a wedding dinner..my 3rd for this month..This one was a bit grand than the previous two..about 100 tables and the dish menu was something special..usually we will have longan tong shui as dessert..but we had ice cream..haha..suddenly, everyone turned to small little kids..happily eating the ice cream..The dinner ended up quite late..I was so tired..Once reached home, slept flat..haha
Day 2
Didnt go to church coz had to attend the workshop again..the journey was pretty smooth except at the midvalley highway...I was driving obediently in the second lane, suddenly a taxi driver overtake me..well, I thought, ok..maybe I was driving a bit slow then..few seconds later, he shown me his middle finger for no reason!..my goodness, what is this, did I offend him in anyway?..NOP, I didn't...must be some 变态佬, 没事找事做!
Workshop today was tiring..I had not enough of sleep, so again, I slept somewhere in the middle..was nodding my head..I think the lecturer might be thinking.."this girl agreed with everything I said.."..hehe..
Lunch..I was hanging around at Sg Wang..trying to look for cheap food..ended up with fast food...:p
On my way back..it was raining cats and dogs..so have to drive slow and steady..and I really hated Malaysian drivers, especially GUYS..not gentlemen at all...(sorry no offense)..I was at the toll side, on the cash lane..becaouse it was raining, so everyone is not lining up..trying to find spaces to cut in here and there..it was really irritated..then, this %^&*#$ guy, drove so near to me, almost "kissed" my car, trying his luck to squeeze in..I decided not to give way..and I stared at him..cursing him..and I won!..It was really dangerous though, but thank God I survived..
Then, dropped by Jusco and had dinner with sis before heading home...
2 weeks more to go before I can officially declare Merdeka..so my dearest frenz..please remember me in your prayer..this is my last paper..pray everything is good!

  5. Smile.
  6. Remember that a person's name is to that person the sweetest and most important sound in any language.
  7. Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.
  8. Talk in terms of the other person's interests.
  9. Make the other person feel important-and do it sincerely.

Win People to Your Way of Thinking

  1. The only way to get the best of an argument is to avoid it.
  2. Show respect for the other person's opinion. Never say, "you're wrong."
  3. If you are wrong, admit it quickly and emphatically.
  4. Begin in a friendly way.
  5. Get the other person saying."yes. yes" immediately.

  7. Try honestly to see things from the other person's point of view.
  8. Be sympathetic with the other person's ideas and desires.
  9. Appeal to the nobler motives.
  10. Dramatise your ideas.

Be a Leader
  1. Begin with praise and honest appreciation.
  2. Call attention to people's mistakes indirectly.
  3. Talk about your own mistakes before criticising the other person.
  4. Ask questions instead of giving direct orders.
  5. Let the other person save face.
  6. Praise the slightest improvement and praise every improvement. Be "hearty in your approbation and lavish in your praise".
  7. Give the other person a fine reputation to live it up to.
  8. Use encouragement. Make the fault seem easy to correct.
  9. Make the other person happy about doing the thing you suggest.
to be continued...

Meeting co-ordinator

Today was a superb busy day..I was assigned an important task by GM..to organise a meeting , from head to toe..It was an important meeting (known as TEC-18 meeting), where many CEOs from various companies will meet up and have discussions, on monthly basis. Thus, GM was the host for this month's meeting and he wanted to have it in our office premise..so being the secretary, naturally I have to make arrangement in order for the meeting to be carry on smoothly..so,after a busy day..I wanted to blog it down..for future reference..:)
Prior preparations:-
  • Few weeks before the meeting, I received notification on the details of the meeting from the secretary (Ms XYZ) of the TEC-18 chairman..meeting to be hosted by GM
  • Confirmed meeting venue and time with Ms XYZ..and thereafter, she will help to circular out the information to the others.
  • prepare a map to our office..asked help from the auto-cad personnel..had 4 amendments before sending it out to Ms XYZ.
  • Send out memo to all staffs-to clean up respective departments..to be seen tidy and neat.
  • Make lunch reservation at a seafood restaurant.
  • Prepare refreshment lists-breakfast, 2 teabreaks...go through with GM..everything approved.
  • Shopping for items needed..requested mum to make some 'kuih' for teabreaks.
  • Ordered birthday cake as there is a birthday celebration this month.
  • Clean up meeting venue, re-arrange the table settings, chairs..ensure all equipments are readily to be used, ie whiteboard, ohp projector; prepare stationeries (pen, pencil, paper, marker pen) for meeting; prepare corporate gifts for guests etc
  • Prepare signboard for meeting place, car parking reservation
On the meeting day:-
  • Woke up 5.30am for preparations..fetched Kak Mas (MD's maid) who will be helping me.
  • 7.30-8.30am Prepare breakfast-fried mihun, local kuih, coffee and tea..
  • 8.30-9.45am Arrival of guests-led them to meeting venue, had breakfast..
  • 10.00am Prepare teabreak-fruits, local kuih, coffee and tea
  • 12.10pm Confirmed lunch booking
  • 1.30pm Collect cake
  • 3.30pm Prepare teabreak-cake, fruits, jelly, cofee and tea
  • 6pm Clean up meeting room
For the whole day, I couldn't remember the number of times I was walking up and down the stairs. (meeting at 1st floor, my place at 3 rd floor)..ya, you may said it's a good exercise but then, it was really exhausted..

After the meeting ended, I took the opportunity to talk to GM..hows my preparations? any comments?...He was quite happy with everything and praised me a little ler..yippie..passed my tasks!!!...

I wanted to say many thanks to the following people who had helped me alot:-
  1. Kak Mas-for assisting with refreshments.
  2. Raymond and Karen-for setting up the OHP projector
  3. Nazli-for drafting the map to office
  4. Allie-for assisting in arranging meeting room

You've got mail

Yesterday night as I was studying, I suddenly remembered that the TV is showing my favourite movie-You've got mail, starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan..The movie started quite late, I think 10.30pm or 11pm..anyway, by the time I on the TV, the movie had started..
I have watched this movie more than 3 times and never got bored..it was such a romantic movie..sometimes, things are just amazing..anything can happen in our life..Tom and Meg met each other through the net..(without realising they were actually enemies..Tom's bookshop had caused Meg's bookshop to close down..).anyway..for more stories, please visit http://youvegotmail.warnerbros.com
However, last night I didn't manage to finish the whole movie coz it was too late already..and gotta wait for the Nightlines to finish..I surrendered..too sleepy and have to attend church services the next day..I think I am gonna get the DVD..
Today, after church service, managed to spend some quality time with family..we went for dim sum for brunch..the place was not too bad but then kinda hot..not air-conditioned..Today's weather also terrible..haze is getting worst!.Oh God, please give us rain...and pray that the haze will soon disappear..
Didn't get to watch F1 Suzuka Grandprix coz too tired..rather spent time sleeping..hehe..It was sad to see Schuey out of the race and Alonso won the title..which means chances of Schuey getting the championship title is so mild..Don't quite like Alonso..find him a bit arrogant..:P
ok..gotta go..hungry..ciao

Happy Lantern Day

当我拿起手提电话,就马上问安, "Good afternoon."."Good afternoon who?".."Good afternoon Mr Tan."..

Life as an Executive Secretary-Day 1

Yesterday was a busy day...started with a Head of Departments meeting and was asked to sit in, to jot down minutes..During the meeting, I found hard to blend into their discussions-one, they were talking too fast, second, they were discussing on some major issues in relation to some operation failures which I was quite blur..Nonetheless, I tried my best to record down all important points and hopefully, minutes will be out by today.

My new place seem comfortable..was actually right under the air-conditioner and it can be really cold..freezing..however, I felt I was so far away from everybody in the office..coz I can't see most of them (blocked by the wall) and no one to chat with..:(

GM had a short discussion with me after working hours..asking me hows my day? briefly telling me my job descriptions and also some personal matters..and he said he will be sending me to some courses..exciting..

This morning as I was browsing through the staff on leave list for Deeparaya, I realised there will be a day where I have to back up the accounts teams..all 3 of them on leave..pengsan ler..coz I have to handle 3 companies' accounts..hopefully nothing much on that day..

Last Sunday, had a chance to have lunch with Mark as he agreed to treat me if I was elected as VP for YM..however, I wasn't feeling well on that day..so had to settled for porridge..the gathering was pretty good and enjoyable..and he is a good story teller though..we chatted about 1.5 hours and I gotta leave for badminton game at 4pm..

The game was good..only 4 of us but a Vietnamese joined in as my partner..He was a cute guy..very friendly and played well..He was very much impressed with Jacky (a superb player..always trick us)..But then after the game, I felt really tired, especially my arms and legs..coz haven't been playing for more than 6 months and I think I stretched too much..muscles pained..anyway, I was looking forward for the next game, hopefully on every Sunday..

Later at night, rushed to my colleague's wedding dinner..only 5 of us in the table, which meant each of us got to eat 2 portions of the dishes..I didn't relly enjoy much coz as mentioned earlier..was not feeling well..3 more wedding dinners to attend for this month..scary..
